Many first time English Bulldog breeders do not realize it, but whelping and initial puppy care for English Bulldogs is an around the clock job. Secondly, once the pups are born, they require hand help when feeding. This requires 24-hour supervision during feeding. In addition, the bulldog mother may accidentally lie on the puppies without realizing it, resulting in suffocation of the pup. Beware of breeders selling “cheap” bulldogs. There are many reasons bulldogs are expensive. Not every dog is meant to be bred. A good breeder will select only the highest quality dogs to enter into their breeding program. They will only choose dogs without health problems and those that represent the best standards of the breed. Our dogs are given the best of care, nutrition, and quality of life with our family.  Bulldogs are most often artificially inseminated and born by a caesarian section with a great expense and planning to the breeder. All of our puppies are born by caesarian section. They usually have small litters of between 3 to 4 puppies. They are not an easy dog to breed! The rare colored Bulldogs are even more expensive. A good breeder may search the world for the best representation of this breed and spend years developing their “perfect” dog. They invest thousands of dollars on their dogs and thousands more for their care and breedings. Rare colored bulldogs such as blue, chocolate, and black and tans are very hard to find and are very expensive. A good breeder has invested a lot into their dogs and would never “discount” them.
